Compressed Natural Gas

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

Compressed natural gas (CNG) is the next generation of fuel for heating and transportation. It is much safer for the environment. CNG produces 20% less greenhouse gas emissions and has lower nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, and particulate emissions. It can easily be transported in pipelines, locally and nationally, which saves on transmission costs and takes tanker trucks off the road. Petroleum spills contaminate soil and groundwater, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars to clean up. CNG spills simply dissipate into the air.

Hydrogen Installations

Island Pump & Tank has been installing Hydrogen fueling facilities since early 2001. Our factory trained techs have the right equipment to perform the job efficiently and safely. Many fleets are turning to Hydrogen as an alternative fuel to power vehicles and forklifts. Having a zero emissions fleet is something that is happening now. Pure hydrogen vehicles emit Zero green house gases and the only substance that comes out of the tail pipe is water.

Fueling Facility Construction

Fueling Facilty Construction

While most of the attention is focused on alternative fuels, most of the vehicles on the road still run on gasoline and diesel. Island Pump & Tank has been building and upgrading the traditional “gas station” fueling facilities for over 60 years. We will give you a turnkey fueling facility, custom built from the ground up. We have installed thousands of facilities over the years and the demand is still there.

Tank Installation

Installing tanks requires a specialty contractor. Tank contractors must have expertise in three trades – plumbing, electric, and heavy equipment operation. Furthermore, the contractor must have significant experience in each of these trades as they specifically apply to tank installation and removal.

Tank Installation

Tank Removal

Tank Removal

Island Pump & Tank is one of the founding fathers of the tank industry on Long Island. We have been successfully installing tanks since 1946. We have a proven track record of installing, removing, abandoning, and upgrading the tanks that get the most rigorous use. For over 60 years we have been installing tanks for Exxon, Mobil, Hess, BP, Texaco, Shell, hospitals, municipalities, and thousands of other businesses and homeowners. We stand by our work and our work stands the test of time.

Alternative Fuels

Island Pump & Tank builds new, alternative fuel, fueling facilities for government, commercial, and private vendors. We also provide upgrades for existing facilities. If you want a biodiesel tank or an ethanol tank added and piped to your dispensers, we have the experience. If you want to add an electric vehicle charging station, we have the experience. If you want to add compressed natural gas (CNG) generation and CNG pump islands, we’ve done that before too. Just give us a call and one of our experts will walk you through the process.

Compliance Inspections

Compliance Inspections

A compliance inspection can be uncomfortable. Like getting audited, we all cross our fingers and hope it never happens. If we are not prepared, the consequences are costly.

Working with Island Pump & Tank is like having a good accountant - we teach you what regulator’s look for and show you simple ways to avoid fines. We provide our clients with low-cost, non-regulatory inspections. Our compliance experts inspect your facility, generate a comprehensive report, and work with you to find easy, manageable solutions that fit into your day-to-day operations. The information is completely confidential and what you do with it is up to you.

Emergency Spill Response

Island Pump & Tank currently holds various municipal and commercial Emergency  spill response contracts and the Long Island Railroad spill response contracts. We have spill response equipment and personnel ready to be dispatched at a moments notice 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Our emergency spill response personnel are HAZMAT, HAZWOPPER, LPS, and FEMA ICS trained. They are ready to handle any situation.

Tank Cleaning

Tank Cleaning

Over the past few years we have had numerous complaints of slow pumps and false water readings on tank monitoring systems. Several customers have noted the need to change pump filters multiple times after a delivery has occurred. In addition, during these filter changes a “coffee ground” type of material has been noted in the strainer baskets. These issues are a direct result of the introduction of today’s required ultra low sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) mixtures. Over time, a slimy bacteria sludge layer forms at the base as well as the sidewalls.

Monitoring and Sampling

Monitoring is a basic tenet of environmental investigation and remediation. The resulting data is the basis for remedial decisions and will ultimately determine a site’s regulatory status or change in status.

Most entry level scientists learn early on how to collect data that is both accurate and precise. While these data qualities are the foundation of good science they will not necessarily lead to accurate conclusions. At Island Pump & Tank we understand that the data we collect tells a story. Recognizing when, where, and why you collect your data is as important as the accuracy and precision. If you don’t answer those three fundamental questions your data loses integrity.

Island Pump & Tank installs automatic standby generators that will restore power to your home or business within seconds. Don’t leave your family or your customers in the dark. Let us give you a free estimate and show you how easy it is to rest easy. We also have the ability to install manual transfer switches to comply with recent post-Sandy regulations.

Transfer Switch Installations

Our experienced technicians provide the electrical know how to install your new transfer switch the right way the first time. Under the new state law, most gas stations in the long island region that are one half mile of highway exits of near hurricane evacuation routes are mandated to have a transfer switch installed by April 1, 2014, and deploy and install a generator within 24 hours of losing utility power. Chains of gas stations are required to have a working transfer switch installed at an additional 30% of their stations under the same criteria by August 1, 2015. NYSERDA, the main supporter of this initiative, will be providing up to $13,000 per station to assist with these upgrades.
